Our staff understand the challenges that teachers face at the start of the process to find a new teaching position overseas. The amount of choices can be overwhelming. We are here to help you through that. We believe an important aspect of the relationship between a teacher and their recruiter is trust. All of our recruitment team have previously taught in Asia and at one point were in the same position as a first-time applicant like you. Teachers tell us that both the initial and on-going support they receive from our team is of huge benefit to them.
From the time of that initial Skype call onwards, you will get to know our team personally and experience our professional service that has allowed us to work with and be trusted by teachers over the years. We will guide you through the whole process from initial application through to placement at our schools. Where required, we will help you find solutions to any difficulties you may have with your application. This will help you to feel more confident about the opportunities available to you so that you can really focus on getting a great teaching position.
We visit each of our client schools regularly and maintain full contact with all of our teachers throughout the duration of their contracts. You will have on-going support from our team for the duration of your time with our schools. We have experienced exciting growth over the last number of years and this is set to continue as we build relationships with new schools in a variety of locations. However, we believe it is essential that our teachers' overall experience remains at the centre of what we do.
We take great pride in the personalised service we provide for each teacher with consistent friendly advice and support starting from the review of your initial application. We do not charge any registration or service fees whatsoever and what you get from our team is completely free of charge. Your recruiter will be in touch with you every step of the way so that the application process is as smooth and as stress-free as possible. You are kept informed on the status of your application along each step of the way. Transparency is a key part of our service so whenever possible, we will give you contact details for other teachers so that you can do your own research, giving you that extra peace of mind.
Teachers with experience, specified teaching qualifications and those who have studied a master’s degree may be offered a contract that is reflective of a higher position on the pay scale. Experience is an important factor in any potential offer and it is important to keep that in mind. However, given the close relationships we have developed with our schools over the years, we are certainly in a position to work with NQTs also and are always delighted to do so.
All our teacher applications include the following services:
Registration, full service & placement at no cost to you.
We are employed by our client schools to secure high quality teaching staff. Our schools pay us and this fee has no bearing on your salary whatsoever. The only initial fees that a teacher is likely to incur at the start of the process are costs associated with gathering your documentation e.g. having documents notarized or applying for your criminal background check.
Professional advice on the best school for you
Hearing more about your preferences for a teaching position abroad is a focal point of our initial Skype web cam call with you. From here, we will offer professional advice on what the best school options may be. We can discuss the best school environment for your career/professional development either internationally and indeed after your return home. we will review everything with you, from school curricula to school ethos and staff training.
Step-by-step guide to the application process.
We lay out the entire process and take you through this step-by-step. Our recruitment consultants will help you prepare for your formal interview with the specific schools. We aim to set up several interviews for you where feasible so that you have a choice of school types or locations to consider. From early in the process, our team will advise you on exactly what documents you will need for your working visa.
Our team will advise from early on in the process exactly what documents you will need for your working visa regardless of whether you are travelling from Australia, Ireland, Canada USA, UK, New Zealand or South Africa. In addition to documentation, we will advise on the process around submitting your documents, visa application forms and any possible embassy visits that are required.
Your recruiter will direct you towards relevant resources on our website that describe everything from city guides to what you should pack in preparation for arrival at your new school.
On-going Support throughout your contract.
We are easily contactable throughout the full length of your contract and are always delighted to hear how our teachers are doing in addition to offering assistance where this is required. After you arrive, we remain in regular communication at different intervals over the course of your stay to check in and make sure all is well.
Social Events and Networking
We often have groups of teachers from several different countries commencing work at a new school around the same time. Where possible, schools like to have teachers start their training and orientation at the same time. This is an excellent way to get to know your new colleagues and to settle-in quickly.
In addition to making friends through your new teacher colleagues, we run TFA meet-up events in several cities in Asia with more events being planned all the time. It’s a chance for our teachers to network with each other and meet some of our own staff on the ground.
When it comes to spending your free time, we can provide you with first-hand information on travel, outdoor pursuits and sports, areas of historical interest, food, shopping and nightlife, depending on your location.
We make sure our teachers have all the information they need in relation to taxation and what they can expect to pay. However, in East and South East Asia, teachers generally pay a fraction of the tax they would pay in their home country. This fact, combined with the lower cost of living in these locations (rent, food, public transport etc.) means that you can expect to save a large portion of your salary every month should you choose to do so.
We negotiate contracts with schools to make sure our teachers receive fair, market-leading offers. Remember, each school will put quite a bit of time and financial investment into having a new teacher join their staff, so they too want to ensure that you are well looked-after and settle in quickly to teaching at your new school.
Prior to signing any contract, our staff and the HR team at our school will of course be more than happy to provide any clarification needed on any aspect of your contract. Working with us, you will receive strong representation on any contract-related matters.
Culture Shock Assistance: Adjusting to new cultures is not always easy. We are on hand to provide you with whatever advice you need; from where to do your grocery shopping to where to find the best bars and restaurants in whatever city you decide to work in!
